Johnnie Macleod brings more than 40 years of insurance expertise to everything he does — and a career that has taken him across three continents, through some of the world’s leading insurance organisations, and ultimately back to what he loves most: building something great from the ground up.

With deep roots across underwriting management, insurance broking and underwriting, Johnnie has always had a natural flair for the industry. But what truly sets him apart is his track record as a builder. He co-founded an insurance firm in South Africa in 1999, growing it from a standing start to five offices and 42 staff in just three years. Back in Australia, he launched a Gold Coast office for a leading international broking firm, led a complex merger in Townsville, and later opened a Cairns office as a Director at CorpSure Insurance Broking.

In 2022, Johnnie founded Knightsbridge Insurance Group — drawing together an experienced team of insurance professionals with a shared commitment to genuinely local service. Knightsbridge works with individuals and businesses across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, providing tailored solutions across property, liability, cyber, professional indemnity, marine and heavy motor fleet, directors & officers, construction, marine transit, drone and travel insurance. It is not a faceless national firm. It is a business built on relationships — and such is the trust Johnnie has built over his career, many of his clients have followed him across more than 15 years and multiple brokerages to be here today.

Johnnie is as passionate about people as he is about insurance. He takes particular satisfaction in finding solutions for hard-to-place risks and developing innovative products that meet real industry needs. His approach blends deep technical expertise with honesty, integrity and a genuine commitment to helping clients build safer, more resilient businesses. He is equally dedicated to mentoring and developing those around him, believing that a strong team is the foundation of any great outcome.

Outside the office, Johnnie applies the same drive and determination to everything he takes on. He has completed 10 ultramarathons of 100 kilometres, run 173 marathons in total, and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. He is a firm believer that pushing your limits — in business and in life — is where real growth happens. When he is not on the road or on the mountain, you will most likely find him on the golf course — where client relationships are built one round at a time. Johnnie also enjoys time with his family, friends, and his three much-loved sausage dogs.
