Home & Contents Insurance
Home and contents insurance covers your home and other structures on your property, including your personal belongings for loss or damage due to events like fire, theft and storms. House Insurance extends to cover other buildings on your property such as garages, sheds, fences and in-ground swimming pools. Flood coverage can also be requested on a case by case basis.
Storm and/or Rainwaters
Protection against damage caused by severe weather events including heavy rainfall, hail, strong winds, and storm surges. This coverage typically includes repair costs for roof damage, water penetration, fallen trees, and structural issues resulting from storms. Policies may have specific definitions of what constitutes a “storm event,” so understanding these details is important for adequate protection.
Fire
Comprehensive coverage for damage caused by fire, smoke, and firefighting efforts. This includes rebuilding costs, structural repairs, and replacement of contents damaged by flames, soot, or water used to extinguish the fire. Cover extends to fires originating from both inside your home (such as electrical faults or kitchen accidents) and external sources like bushfires or neighbouring property fires.
Theft
Compensation for stolen possessions and damage caused during break-ins or attempted burglaries. This coverage helps replace stolen items and repair damaged locks, windows, doors, and other property damage resulting from forced entry. Many policies also cover theft from secured outbuildings like garden sheds and garages, providing broader protection for your possessions.
Accidental & Malicious Damage
Protection against unintentional damage to your home and belongings, such as spilled paint on carpets, broken fixtures, or damaged furniture. Malicious damage coverage addresses deliberate acts of vandalism or property damage by others, including graffiti, broken windows, or other intentional destruction. This coverage ensures you’re protected from both mishaps and deliberate harm.
Fusion
Coverage for electrical motor burnout in household appliances and equipment like refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and pool pumps. This protection typically covers repair or replacement costs when electric motors burn out or fuse due to power surges or mechanical failure, saving you from unexpected replacement expenses for essential household items.
Impact
Protection against damage caused by falling trees, branches, power poles, or impact from vehicles or aircraft. This coverage helps with repair costs when external objects strike your home or other insured structures, addressing both the immediate damage and any consequential issues like structural weakening that might result.
Glass
Coverage for accidental breakage of fixed glass in windows, doors, skylights, shower screens, and glass cooktops. This protection includes replacement costs for the damaged glass as well as emergency repairs to secure your home after breakage. Some policies extend to cover glass items like mirrors and furniture with glass components.
Personal Valuables
Additional protection for high-value items such as jewellery, artwork, collectibles, and portable electronics both at home and while away. This coverage typically offers higher limits and broader protection than standard contents coverage, ensuring your most precious possessions are adequately insured against loss, damage, or theft wherever you take them.

What does Home Insurance cover?
Home and contents insurance covers your home and other structures on your property, including your personal belongings for loss or damage due to events like fire, theft and storms. House Insurance extends to cover other buildings on your property such as garages, sheds, fences and in-ground swimming pools. Flood coverage can also be requested on a case-by-case basis.
What is the difference between Accidental Damage and listed events?
Listed Events is basic coverage, covering you for events such as Fire, Flood and Storm. Accidental Damage is a comprehensively worded policy against a Listed Events policy, covering you for all Defined Perils, with far fewer exclusions. An example would include, a tv falling off the wall or a wine glass spilling on furniture/carpet. An Accidental Damage coverage would cover such events, whereas a Listed Events coverage would not.
How do I make a home insurance claim?
One of the main benefits of using a broker is that we handle your claims management if and when a claim arises, rather than you having to lodge and manage your claims yourself. Details, proof, repairer invoices and photos of the damage are required for us to prepare and lodge a Home Insurance claim on your behalf.
What is typically not covered under a home insurance policy?
Like most insurance policies, Home Insurance generally excludes cover for building defects, e.g. construction issues, wear and tear, lack of maintenance, etc.
It does not traditionally cover deliberate damage caused by the owner or someone who has entered the property with the owner’s permission.
What are the optional benefits of Home Insurance?
Home Insurance offers Optional Benefits for certain covers, if these covers are not selected, they are not automatically included.
Depending on location, Flood may not be automatically included or in some cases, not offered due to the property being within a high flood risk area.
